Seriously Customised… All the Way Down to the Way We Print
At The Custom Windsock Co., our job is to make you look good and help your brand stand out—even from hundreds of metres away.
Let’s be honest: if your windsock is faded, tattered or wrapped up around the pole, it’s not doing its job. Not only is it a safety risk, but it reflects poorly on your site.
A windsock should be bright, visible and reliable. It’s not just about showing wind direction—it’s a chance to showcase your brand.
Custom Printed Windsocks That Actually Last
A few years back, we launched full-colour custom printed windsocks—and the response was massive. We listened to our Aussie customers, took on the feedback, and got to work fixing the pain points.
We knew the industry standard wasn’t cutting it:
-
Low-resolution prints
-
Faded colours in a few weeks
-
Limited detail
-
Expensive and slow to customise
So we said goodbye to traditional screen printing and low-durability digital print jobs—and switched to something that actually works for Aussie conditions:
👉
Sublimation printing on woven and knitted polyester.
What is Sublimation Printing?
Sublimation is a modern printing technique where the ink becomes part of the fabric itself.
Here’s how it works:
-
Your custom design is printed in reverse onto a special transfer paper using dye-sub inks.
-
That transfer is lined up with our high-performance polyester.
-
With a mix of heat and pressure, the ink transforms directly into a gas.
-
The gas bonds into the fabric fibres—creating a vivid, high-resolution permanent print.
The result? A sharp, detailed, and fade-resistant windsock that holds up to the Australian sun, wind, and weather.
Why We Made the Switch
Before sublimation, we used:
-
Screen printing – durable but inflexible for custom designs.
-
Digital printing – quick to customise but not great at resisting UV fade.
Now with dye-sublimation, we get:
-
Stunning high-definition images
-
Deep colour penetration for long-lasting prints
-
Multiple colours in a single run
-
Better eco credentials with water-based inks
-
Lower costs passed on to you
And because sublimation printing is made for knitted polyester, the combo performs brilliantly in hot, dry and coastal Australian conditions.
