Seasonal Maintenance
Different seasons bring different challenges. Here’s how to adapt your maintenance routine throughout the year:
- Winter: Check for ice buildup on the windsock and frame. Remove any snow or ice to prevent excess weight and potential damage.
- Spring: Perform a thorough inspection and cleaning after the harsh winter months. Replace any worn-out parts.
- Summer: Ensure the windsock is protected from prolonged exposure to intense sunlight, which can cause fading and material degradation.
- Fall: Clear any fallen leaves or debris that could obstruct the windsock’s movement.
Spring and Fall are the most popular times to replace your windsocks. Summer and winters can be particularly harsh on windsocks as they ensure long hours of UV exposure in both seasons. In summer the windsocks endure direct UV rays over a prolonged period due to the long days. In winter the windsocks endure direct UV exposure from the sun but also from the reflection off of the snow.
